See if you can spot the poor decision-making in this clip.

Or this one.

Brilliant!

But not what I would call ... responsible?

Bad Decision: rolling the bizjet.
Worse decision: with passengers.
Utter Stupidity: letting someone videotape it.

The second clip is a Beech 1900 (Great Lake pilots, maybe?) In a perfectly coordinated roll, there should be no additional stress on the aircraft (hence 1G throughout the roll, why they showed pouring the drink). Of course it doesn't make it the best of ideas.

The first video seemed quite reckless, I admit.

By the way, I've been missing reading regular Sully entries! Where ya been?

I must admit this is one of the few blogs that make up my regular blog rounds.

Rolling the jet with pax on board is pretty stupid, but i'm guessing the owner was among those people. The second clip made me mad, because those pilots wouldn't be cleaning the mess if they spilled.

Crazy, how to you convince the pilot of a biz jet to do a roll? Crazy...

The biggest problem I see with this kind of behavior is that the folks who get the hankering to do it probably aren't the folks who fly aerobatic stuff regularly with a high level of competence.

I think its much like how once I got a track car I magically no longer had the urge to do stupid stuff on public roads...even though I'd be much better at it with all the practice from the track.

And don't forget Utter Stupidity 2: posting it on YouTube.

The knowledge that you could safely roll an airplane that the manufacturer and mission doesn't designate for rolling is like the knowledge that you could get away with murder or embezzlement.

Sadly, the question is how do you convince young males entrusted with the command of an airplane NOT to do stupid stuff. Apparently there's some genetic advantage for females to mate with the most reckless male who actually survives his antics, thus assuring that this propensity is selected for and passed to succeeding generations.

When did the cat get your tongue?? You've been pretty quiet.

What's been going on?

Some more utter stupidity flying a (big) jet posted on YouTube. You might have already seen this, it's
downright scary stuff , very close to claim a Darwin Award and lots of unwitting and innocent bystanders in the process....
