50 years ago, this was an ad for Pan Am's Boeing 707 jet service. This ad features rare footage of the -121 "short tail" series, and the original Pratt and Whitney JT3C straight turbojet engines.

It sure looks like a glamorous ride...



Things have changed somewhat since then.

I'm up early tomorrow - I'll post some night flying pics when we land at our destination tomorrow morning.

Funny, I don't recall "living room quiet" applying to the 707. I suppose that was in comparison with the Constellation or whatever it replaced.

And someone actually composed symphonic music, and a whole orchestra was used to record it... For a simple advertisement...

Table linens, silverware, china, multi-course meals, coffee poured from a pot, pillows, blankets...

It's like flying on Wardair....

The main thing I noticed about the aircraft interior was the lack of overhead bins. What luxury!
