I'm back. I took a month off because I was feeling pressure from readers of this site to write about stuff I didn't want to write about, and it was starting to feel like a job. I miss this, and it feels like fun again, so here goes nothing...
All photos courtesy of Kitsch, click on them to make them bigger.
We returned from waaaay out west the other day, flying empty back home.
Wearing a tie is the worst part of this job, and it's nice to be able to dress casually on occasion. The food ain't bad either :)
Arizona is like the surface of the moon in places.
Speaking of extra-terrestrial bodies, we flew over a giant crater caused by a prehistoric asteroid. It stained the earth red with asteroid blood. Who are you going to believe, some geologist or uncle Sully?
It was a 5 hour flight back home, and Kitsch and I made ourselves useful during the time spent in cruise :)
//note to any particularly anal people: the last 2 pics are staged, somewhat :)

Glad to see you back Sully, and I knew the photos were staged, I mean COME ON, who actually believes in asteroids??
Yay! I'm glad you're back too. And yes, blogging should be fun, not work, so I hope you always feel free to post as you please.
Great photos! What kind of camera is it?
Good grief.
I have never seen such a blatant display of unprofessionalism in my life. I mean to say, what planet do you guys live on. You say that the pictures are staged, BUT I happen to know that THERE NO WAY you can stage the type of shorts being worn in the first shot.
You have neglected your DUTY to aviation, and I can hear droves of young impressionable wanabe aviators franticly trying to change their future career choice, to more reputable and desirable professions, such as undertakers, sanitation engineers, and even .... politicians.
Get with the program!!
:) <- To the anal, this "makes it all right"
:)
Great to see you back. The crater is a cool place to visit, and when you stand at the rim, it's unreal to think of the blast that caused it. Glad you had a good flight back and are feeling good about the blog. We missed you!!
amulbunny
By the way who is the fashion plate in the first picture?
your blog is great. just write about whatever you want to write about. we're not paying a subscription or anything.
Why do you feel pressure to write about certain things? It's your blog, you write what you want! If someone dosent like it they can stop reading. The rest of us enjoy whatever you put in.
welcome back unky sully!
Ha ha ha. Just WAIT until I post a pic of what I wear at work.
I so love my job.
And what the heck are you reading? "Star Celebrity Watch" or something?
In the first photo I think there's some throttle stagger. Does your airplane have specified limits of how much is allowable?
Isn't that the crater that was featured at the end of the movie Starman with Jeff Bridges?
If you were lounging in the back reading a mag, who was taking the photo - as in who's flying the plane! Boss! Dee Plane!???
Glad to see you're back. Blog when you feel like it and have a time... you have no obligations to anyone.
However, I would take offense personally if you refuse to post about your crazy antics at FL320.. ;)
That ceater looks a bit square.
Funny that ?????
That crater have attracted the attention of pilots before you. Some parts of a wrecked 172 can still be seen from the observation platform on the rim. Long time ago two airline captains who had decided to go have a much closer look in a Cessna experienced first hand what high and hot really means. NASA astronauts also trained there before landing on the moon.
